Time To Pay The Piper

This is Sergeant Ricky Timbrook. Sergeant Timbrook was killed in the line of duty by....this man, Edward Nathaniel Bell (a Jamaican national).
Edward Nathaniel Bell shot Sergeant Timbrook in the head because he feared he was about to be searched under suspicion of having and dealing this... which he did have along with one of these which was a violation of his parole (he had previous concealed weapons and violence charges). This is the Supreme Court of the United States which just heard and rejected Bell's last ditch appeal for clemency (based on his claim that he had a hard childhood... boo hoo). This is what Bell will be getting instead of a hug and a life sentence. And if it exists, this is where I hope Bell spends the rest of time rotting.
Thanks to the good judgement of the SCOTUS, there will be one less peice of this in world. You can read more about the case here and here.

By the way, Sgt. Timbrook's partner (who found him that night) was a sniper and member of B Co, 3-116th Inf at the time.

"You need more moral stature to be a police officer."

Cross posted at the Liberty Zone. This really pisses me off.

A few years ago, Spc. Osvaldo Hernandez was convicted of possessing an unregistered pistol in New York and sent to Riker's Island for a year. The gun had not been used to commit a crime, and according to Hernandez, and he kept the pistol with "youthful notions" of self-defense in his dangerous neighborhood. This is the way the New York Times describes the right to protect one's life... a "youthful notion." I suppose a more mature notion would be to surrender to anyone who wants to rob, rape or kill you without so much as a struggle, and wait for the police to investigate, right? But I digress...

Anyway, the kid pleaded guilty to a D felony, and even though he'd never been arrested before, was sent to prison. At Riker's, Hernandez turned his life around. He made a decision to join the Army and became part of one of the most respected units in the military.

...Mr. Hernandez, 25, is Specialist Hernandez, a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division in Afghanistan.

His transformation from inmate to productive citizen would seem to be complete. His Army supervisors say he is reliable, honest and brave. Barring something unforeseen, he will be honorably discharged at the end of his 15-month combat tour this year and hopes to become a New York City police officer.

But there appears to be a problem.

...The New York Police Department is among the broad mainstream of departments that say a felony conviction is an absolute bar to police work, no matter his exemplary military record, even in a combat zone.

“Basically they told me, word for word, ‘You’re good enough for the Army, but you aren’t good enough to be a police officer,’” Specialist Hernandez said, describing an exchange with a police recruiter on the department’s recruitment hot line. “They said, ‘You need more moral stature to be a police officer.’”

You need more "moral stature" to be an "only one?" Moral stature like this guy, who was sentenced to 19 years for child rape?

How about this epitome of morality from the New York City Police Department who sexually abused at least two kids?

How about this bastion of moral stature who was indicted on charges that he murdered his fiancee?

But a kid whose only crime was possessing a tool of self defense in a city that prohibits him from holding his own life above the idiot regulations imposed on him by petty tyrants, who turned his life around in the US military, and by all accounts has been an exemplary Soldier, is not good enough for these losers.

Maybe if he goes out and rapes a couple of kids, he'll have enough moral stature to join the ranks of the NYPD.

Added in retrospect...

I don't agree with the NYT's assessment of the Army as so desperate they'll take felons just to make numbers. We have a hell of a lot of quality Soldiers in the military. Maybe they just saw something in this guy that confirmed he'd be a good, honorable Soldier.

Since When Do We Have To Bribe People To Obey The Law?

And since when did the currency of the land become frozen turkey? Read on…

(AP) Sober drivers passing through a DUI checkpoint in Salinas will be getting the bird. Up to 300 turkeys will be given to drivers who successfully pass through the sobriety checkpoint Tuesday. The location for the DUI checkpoint isn't being disclosed.

The Salinas Police Department and the Safe Teens Empowerment Project in Salinas are joining forces in the turkey giveaway.

Nice. You have to figure that those birds cost at least ten bucks a piece even after the bulk and police/charity discounts. So that’s about three grand to bribe people to do what they’re supposed to be doing anyway. How about this, the government bribes us and we won’t double park in D.C.? This is just about the dumbest thing I’ve heard of in a long time… besides Giuliani’s virtual fence, Hillary’s on again/off again licensing of illegals, and CIR.

Give Him Back His Porn

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — A man recently released from jail after being convicted of secretly videotaping a woman and a teenage girl has sued a Marin County police department for the return of a massive porn collection taken during the investigation.

Okay, I know that you’re thinking “hey, it’s illegal porn since it was secretly taken without knowledge or permission of the subjects” but that’s not the case. The porn collection in question was actually legally purchased, commercially produced porn. In short, they stole his porn. The police seized 500 movies and 250 magazines that, although of a pornographic nature, were not related to the case according to the defense attorney for Dennis Saunders (the defendant in this case).

I understand that you don’t let pedophiles live near schools and you don’t let drug addicts work at a pharmacy, but it’s not like this guy can’t legally get more porn so keeping it is tantamount to theft and/or illegal government seizure. I guess the bottom line is this: isn’t it better for him to peep at a TV screen or a magazine than to try it on real people?By the way, this is his right arm.
And this is his left arm.

You Have The Right To Remain… Faaaaabulous!!!

The following double entendres will not be used in this post (although they almost certainly could be): gun and holster, up against the wall and spread ‘em, copping a feel, full body cavity search, private dick, night stick, billy club, bum rap, penetrating a prostitution ring.

A Newport Township part-time police officer was working as an escort when he was arrested in a prostitution sting at a Wilkes-Barre motel on Friday, according to arrest papers.

Levi Gibbon Jr., 40, of East North Street, Wilkes-Barre, was charged by the state police Organized Crime Unit with a single count of prostitution. He was arraigned before Hanover Township District Judge Joseph Halesey and released on $5,000 bail.
Newport Township Solicitor Richard Shiptoski said Gibbon has been suspended without pay until resolution of the charge, a third-degree misdemeanor.
Gibbon couldn’t be reached for comment on Tuesday.
According to the criminal complaint:
State police and the Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office were involved in a prostitution sting at the Wilkes-Barre Lodge motel on Kidder Street.
An informant told authorities that Gibbon was working as an escort and was to show up at 4 p.m. to meet a client in room 141.
Gibbon, carrying a blue mini cooler, knocked on the door and was greeted by an undercover trooper posing as a client.
Once inside the room, Gibbon discussed with the trooper sexual acts that would be performed for an amount of money, the criminal complaint says.
Gibbon began to undress as he accepted $200 in marked money. A signal was given to surveillance teams, who entered the room and arrested Gibbon.
Police said Gibbon admitted in a written statement that he was working as an escort and expected to receive money for sexual favors, the criminal complaint says.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Thursday in Central Court.

I guess when people complain that sometimes the cops really suck, they aren’t kidding.

Well, now that he’s going to jail his business should really start booming... as long as he takes cigarettes as payment.
H/T to TSO... who escaped with only community service under his plea agreement for this sting.

Hey, Here’s An Idea…

Why don’t we consider armed gangs of thugs that terrorize our streets, victimize our citizenry, and commit heinous, violent crimes to be enemies of the United States instead of trying to give them hugs and cable TV in prison? Why must we keep adding new legislation to try to fix old enforcement and punishment problems?

LOS ANGELES - Anti-gang legislation and police crackdowns are failing so badly that they are strengthening the criminal organizations and making U.S. cities more dangerous, according to a report being released Wednesday.

Mass arrests, stiff prison sentences often served with other gang members and other strategies that focus on law enforcement rather than intervention actually strengthen gang ties and further marginalize angry young men, according to the Justice Policy Institute, a Washington, D.C., think tank that advocates alternatives to incarceration.

Intervention, huh? How about reality? The reality is that these guys want something for nothing. The reality is that they see their TV, movie, and music idols rolling along with the bling-bling and the high dollar cars, and they feel entitled to the same pampered and unrealistic lifestyle. The reality is that they’re marginalized because all of the jobs that they would qualify for are being snatched up by illegals for half the pay. The reality is that the Justice Policy Institute is in D.C., not Los Angeles. The reality is that prison is too soft on these guys.

When you send hardened criminals to prison and give them a free higher education, cable tv, a free gym, and gang ties, all you get is smarter, stronger criminals with little incentive to get out of that pattern of behavior and more stress on an overly taxed populace… therefore making it more difficult to make ends meet… therefore making it more difficult to raise the standard of living at the lowest levels… therefore making the possibility of climbing out of that hole seem less realistic… therefore causing the reality of gang membership. You want to help stop gangs, make prison and gang membership the stuff of nightmares, not a goal. Oh, and get your facts from the street, not a book.

Wes McBride, executive director of the California Gang Investigators Association, dismissed the findings of the report, which he said was written by "thug-huggers." The investigators association is a professional organization for police officers.

"Are they saying we can't put a thief in jail, we can't put a murderer in jail, that we should spank them, put a diaper on them, pat them on the bottom, hug them and let them go?" McBride said. "It's obviously a think tank report, and they didn't leave their ivory tower and spend any time on the streets."

Realized Pornographic Fantasy Disasters Part II

It’s a banner week for bad judgment calls by folks in uniform. This time it’s Tennessee state trooper James Randy Moss that dropped the ball (and his pants). The long and short of it is this: he pulled over a woman for some reason, the woman turned out to be a porn star by the name of Justis Richert a.k.a. Barbie Cummings (I’ll let you figure out the stage name vice the given name), she had some “happy pills” in the car, and she didn’t want to get in trouble. So she explained to Moss that she was a porn star, they watched a few of her videos on his police laptop in his police cruiser, he mentioned that he wanted to be in that business, and she gave him an impromptu audition on the spot while he was on duty. Oddly enough, the drugs disappeared.

He then has the foresight to brag about it to his buddies, but lacks the hindsight to do anything about the video that the cruiser cam took. Wow, talk about little head doing the thinking for the big head!

Well, if he wanted to get into the adult entertainment industry, he’s on the right path… he just got screwed on film. Appropriate that his middle name is “Randy” and her real first name is "Justis".
More gratuitous Barbie Cummings/Justis Richert pics for you.I don't want to completely disappoint all the pervs that got to this site looking for her naughty pics, but we like to keep the grahics "PG-13" here folks.

It’s The Fashion Police! No, really.

If you get a ticket for wearing it wrong, is it really a choice?

They actually have the Iranian Police ticketing women for being a little to lax in following the Sharia dress code over there. What are some of the egregious crimes committed by these women, you might ask? Well, try on these fundamentalist faux pas:

Coats that are too tight!
Pants that are too short!
Hijabs that are too loose!

My god! What a bunch of tramps! Don’t they realize that loose head scarves and short pants can cause impure thoughts, rape, dermatitis, poor performance in engines with over 100,000 miles on them, cavities, erections that last over four hours (priapism), and/or sexual thoughts that don’t involve little boys or livestock?!?!

I promised more mockery of whacko religious practices and beliefs, and I delivered.

Now which Muslim women look happier, the two on the top or the two on the bottom?
